The Great Outdoors
We couldn’t have asked for a better day for the first day of outdoor season, there was a slight wind coming almost from behind, which is an unusual direction for our field but the day was dry and fairly warm. The field looked fantastic with all of our freshly covered targets set out from 20yds to 100yds. Shooting started after a small presentation to Ian Holmes for holding onto the club’s highest indoor score, Ann Conifey for her achievement with her longbow and to Steve Surtees for the inaugural presentation of the ‘Jim Maughan Junior Challenge Trophy’. There was also a certificate for Ian Henderson for completing his shooting plan and certificates for the completion of the ‘beginners course’ for Shona, Kirsty,Dave, Kevin, Mathew, and Jack.
The near perfect conditions quickly blew away the cobwebs, and the regulars quickly got into their stride. However it was from the beginners target which came the biggest surprise. After about an hour of shooting it was noticed that there was a forest of arrows grouped very nicely in the gold.
Equipment Day 10th May 2008
A big thanks to all of the members who came for the equipment day. As well as enjoying a gorgeous afternoon we managed to achieve a great deal of maintenance and work to the club equipment to make it ready for the outdoor season.
